Parviz Tanavoli – who has been widely recognised as the only Iranian artist to fully capture the duality and interplay of Iran’s pre-Islam and Islamic cultural identities – created a visual symbology through his sculptural work that would have a lasting impact on modernism in Iran.

"Chakaia Booker: The Observance" is the first comprehensive monograph on this important yet understudied American artist. Illuminating more than three decades of Booker’s practice, the publication explores her signature form – monumental works made of rubber – while showcasing her innovations across mediums including photography, painting, and prints.

Johann Gottfried Schadow’s "Princess group" has gone down in the annals of art history. As the first statue of two female historical personalities it testifies to the innovation, enormous artistry and productivity of sculpture workshops in the 19th century – a symbol of the important sculpture of German Classicism.

Over the past decade they have become equally well-known in English-speaking countries, with a reputation as one of the most prestigious publishers in this field. This survey of English titles from 2010 to 2020 encompasses a wealth of subjects across the centuries, from antiquity to the modern age.  

Latinx artist Tamara Kostianovsky began using her discarded clothes as artistic material shortly after immigrating to the United States, addressing cultural and physical displacement, assimilation and identity, and the brutal history of Latin America. The Portuguese artist Joana Vasconcelos (*1971) is famous internationally for her three-dimensional works, in which she explores the boundaries between tradition and modernism, high and everyday culture, craftsmanship and industrial production in a work rich in allusions. Objects and installations from the last 20 years provide an insight into her fascinating œuvre.

Alfred Haberpointner (*1966 in Salzburg) is a sculptor of international repute. He became famous with his wooden sculptures, and he has subsequently expanded his work to include the used of materials like steel, lead and paper. This volume documents Haberpointner’s artistic development through all phases up to and including his large-scale works in the public space.

John Grade’s drawings, sculptures and installations are weathered, marked, worn and disintegrated. Made of reclaimed wood or paper, the works are buried for termites to devour, sunk into a bay to collect barnacles, or hung in forest trees for birds to eat.
