Steven Scott

Richly illustrated with photographs by Adam Mørk and Matthew McConnell, Luminous Icons documents a body of work ranging from Seventy Seven – a vast, seven-storey light art installation that forms the focus of the central atrium of Deloitte’s Copenhagen headquarters – to Brown Light, a series of entrancing glowing artworks that function in smaller, private spaces. Originally a designer at the influential London theatre and film centre Riverside Studios, Scott had extensive experience in theatre design before turning to the creation of light art some 15 years ago. The period set the tone for a career that has moved freely between art, theatre and architecture. Central to Scott's work is his rich appreciation of light and its interaction with people and space. As a master of this elusive medium, Scott’s pieces make reference to the rhythms of the day with works that gradually change colour over time – marking the natural and seasonal cycles.
